I extend to you my most sincere congratulations on the \u2018NO\u2019 victory achieved in the referendum held in Greece, July 5, 2015<\/p>\n

This result demonstrates the majority support of the Greek people for the courageous policy of the government over which you preside.<\/p>\n

I reiterate the assurance of my highest consideration.<\/p>\n

Venezuela<\/strong><\/strong> President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro tweeted: \u201cThe \u2018no\u2019 vote in Greece is a victory against the financial terrorism carried out by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).\u201d<\/p>\n

Bolivia<\/strong><\/strong>\u2019s president, Evo Morales, said, “I congratulate the great Greek people for the victory of \u201cno\u201d \u2026 which is a defeat of European imperialism. It is the beginning of the liberation of the European people. My respect and admiration for the historic Greek people, the birthplace of democracy. The Greek people have defeated the harshest capitalism.”<\/p>\n

Argentina<\/strong><\/strong>\u2019s Cristina Kirchner tweeted: \u201cOn behalf of our People and Government, our solidarity with the brave Greek people and their Government.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ecuador<\/strong><\/strong>\u2019s foreign minister, Ricardo Pati\u00f1o, tweeted: \u201cthe overwhelming vote against the proposed austerity measures by European creditors represented\u00a0solid backing for Greece\u2019s prime minister, Alexis Tsipras.\u201d<\/p>\n

It can be noted that Ecuador, like Greece, held a debt audit that found the country\u2019s debt illegal and illegitimate and that later led to the South American nation substantially reducing its repayments to creditors. Ahead of the vote in Greece, Ecuador\u2019s president, Rafael Correa, said Greece should ignore the advice of the IMF and international financial bureaucracies.<\/p>\n
